His career began with a scholarship to attend medical school from the Navy. After his intern year, he applied and was accepted to train as a Naval Flight Surgeon, attending flight school in Pensacola, FL. After graduation, he was assigned to Marine Corps Air Station New River where he served as Flight Surgeon for VMM-261 "Raging Bulls". He deployed twice, to Afghanistan/Kuwait (10 months) and six months later to Spain/Africa (6 months). He received two Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals for he and his team's work and his work is used still today. He also holds numerous other military awards listed in his CV.
After medical school, Dr. Huff did a Traditional Rotating Internship in Cleveland, OH at University Hospitals, concentrating in Orthopedic Surgery given his background in Sports Medicine as an Athletic Trainer.
He then was accepted to train as a Flight Surgeon, attending Flight School in Pensacola, FL after which he was assigned to the United States Marine Corps to fly on the MV-22 Osprey. He deployed twice, Afghanistan/Kuwait for 10 months, then six months later to Spain/Africa for 6 months. He continued this work in Africa for long range En Route Care. He received two Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals along with numerous other awards for his and his team's work.
After his military service, Dr. Huff returned to his hometown to train in Emergency Medicine, where he successfully completed residency and has worked all around Nashville and surrounding areas as an attending physician.
He also serves as the Academic Medical Director for his Alma Mater, Middle Tennessee State University Athletic Training/Sports Medicine program where he lectures regularly as well as state and local conferences.
An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Huff has enjoyed re-exploring his roots in the Nashville area. A fan of waterfall hikes, he loves to bring his German Shepard, Roxy, as well as his newly adopted Belgian Malinois, Mollie, both who love the water and being outside.
